Dublin Port

 
 

Dublin Port is located in the centre of Dublin city and is just under two hours from Kilkenny. Buses and taxis provide a regular service from the port to the Dublin city and beyond. The Luas Red Line tram stop at The Point is located opposite the entrance to Dublin Port on East Wall Road. Roll-on/roll-off passenger ferry services run regularly across the Irish Sea to Holyhead in Wales, Liverpool in England and in the summer months and at Christmas to Douglas, Isle of Man. The largest car ferry in the world, the Irish Ferries ship MV Ulysses which can carry up to 2000 passengers, runs on the Holyhead route.

Travelling to Kilkenny from Dublin Airport by bus takes just over two hours. There are a huge number of buses travelling from Dublin Airport to Kilkenny hourly.

Dublin Coach

Travelling from Dublin Port to Kilkenny with Dublin Coach takes about two hours. Dublin Coach travels from Dublin to Cork via Kilkenny every two hours departing from Burgh Quay with fares starting from €15 one way. JJ Kavanagh

Travelling from Dublin Port to Kilkenny with JJ Kavanagh takes around two and a half hours. Take the route 717 bus departing from Hueston Station every hour to two hours with fares starting from €20 one-way. By Taxi

There are a number of taxi operators that offer a taxi service from Dublin Port to Kilkenny. Prices start from around €180 for a 4-seater. If you intend to travel to Kilkenny from Dublin Port it is important to note these fares are only on specific taxi services that offer this route and not necessarily from the taxi rank by the port. These services usually must be pre-booked in advance. A quick google search will show you some taxi companies offering this service and their terms and conditions.

By Rail

There is a railway service from Dublin’s Heuston Station to Kilkenny’s MacDonagh Station every two hours, the journey takes just over two hours and fares star from €26 one-way.
